Asus Wireless RT-N66U Can’t Login After Firmware Upgrade

After firmware upgrade on Asus RT-N66U, the browser hitting with the error message below, didn’t allow me to log into Asus RT-N66U router again.

Settings have been updated. Web page will now refresh.

Changes has been made to the IP address or port number. You will now be disconnected from RT-N66U

To access the settings of RT-N66U, reconnect to the wireless network and use the updated IP address and port number.

The message is misleading, what I did was firmware upgrade, nothing changes on IP address or port number, and it did not allow me to log into the admin control panel. After firmware upgrade, it did ask me to reboot the device, but the Wifi is placed on the ceiling, it’s a “hard” job to climb and power off 😉

I was able to access via other browsers (Chrome, Safari). After logged in with one of the browser, I initiate reboot on the device. But, after rebooted and accessed via firefox, it still kept displayed the message above. Tried to clear the cookies and no luck.

After looking around Firefox settings found something called “Offline Web Content and User Data”; it’s in Settings > Advanced > Network tab, and the router’s gateway address is in the box “The following websites are allowed to store data for offline use:”

Without any hesitation, hitting on “remove” button and Voila! Login screen displayed. Offline web content huh? Tricky!
